In 2023, a new Whistleblower Protection Act was introduced in the Czech Republic, which allows whistleblowers to be protected from retaliation by employers.

This explainer video was part of a communication by the anti-corruption NGO Transparency International on the issue of the Whistleblower Protection Act. It shows not only examples of what such violations may look like in practice, but also the options of who a potential whistleblower can turn to.

At the beginning of the creation process, the Transparency International team prepared the script and had an initial idea for the animation, and it was my job to come up with, design, and execute its visual style in the form of collage explainer video. This form of animation was chosen by the team after I submitted 3 examples of possible styles through a moodboard.

After finalizing the script and overall visual, I created storyboard, collage materials, and final animation. Martina Foldynová, the host of their podcast TI Stošestka, recorded a voiceover for the entire video, which I synced with the animation, adding sound effects, music and subtitles. A big thanks to the whole team for a fantastic collaboration.

Transparency International has been working on whistleblower protection for a long time, and on the one-year anniversary of the introduction of the law, it convened an expert roundtable to share not only feedback on the legislation and one-year practice, but also to discuss priorities in whistleblower protection for the coming years.
